Mosaics are the main distinguishing feature of MAR. The recently rearranged collection of contemporary mosaics covers a period ranging from the 1950s to the most recent works. It is a dynamic and open collection, with a constant eye on the world. In fact, in addition to works by Plessi and Chia, the mosaic section has recently been enriched with mosaics by Albanian artist Adrian Paci and Iranian artist Monir Sharoudy Farmanfarmaian. These works are part of a journey that starts with Chagall, Mathieu, Afro, Vedova, Capogrossi, Campigli and Moreni, and ends with Adami, Ontani and Balthus, developing through the works of the virtuoso mosaicists of Ravenna, with a special focus on young artists. The MAR focuses on the entire ferment of contemporary mosaic art.
