From February 1 to 28, 2025, the MAR is dedicating its spaces to IL MAR dei Piccoli, the traditional event where children and their families are the protagonists at the museum.
From Feb. 1 to 28, 2025, the second floor of the museum will host the exhibition Come una FOGLIA curated by Immaginante: an exhibition itinerary featuring interactive installations and workshop areas where children, girls and adults share the pleasure for exploration that becomes creative action. The opening of the play exhibition is Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. Free admission but reservation is required (Immaginante Secretariat 334 2804710 from 3 to 6 p.m., also whatsapp).
On the same inaugural day of Feb. 1, Monica Francia will animate with special CorpoGiochi event titled Congegno emotivo the MAR’s new exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art and experimentation, the Project & New Media Room, interacting with the exhibition Vestiva inoltre una segreta felicità by Diego Miguel Mirabella for SPAZIO NEUTRO, the project curated by Giorgia Salerno, curator of the MAR. Congegno emotivo is a performative action conceived by Monica Francia, curated with Zoe Francia Lamattina and Sara Zannoni, and realized by gruppoY, very young performers trained for years. It is a score of movement that emerges from the encounter between spectators and performers. The action is an ingenious container, a well-orchestrated gimmick that engages the audience in a limited space-time relationship with the performers.
Thanks to the collaboration with Teatro del Drago during the entire afternoon of Saturdays, February 8, 15 and 22, starting at 3 p.m. instead, the protagonist is Figure Theater, which meets, with Anima l’opera!, the most important works of the MAR Collections, giving voice and life, thanks to an unprecedented theatrical mediation to the works of art through puppets, shadow and object theater
This edition of Il MAR dei piccoli also hosts original readings aloud in collaboration with the Classense Library Institution. On the mornings of Feb. 8 and Feb. 22, young visitors will be able to attend readings related to the most iconic works in the picture gallery followed by a walk to discover the secrets of art.
Another important novelty this edition is that Il MAR dei Piccoli will not only take place in the halls of the museum but will also land in the theater, thanks to the collaboration with Ravenna Teatro’s Compagnia Drammatico Vegetale will perform Che sì, che no & Arte e Natura, a theatrical and sensory journey for ages 2 to 6, on the mornings of Thursday, Feb. 13, Friday, Feb. 14 for schools and Saturday, Feb. 15 for families, at Ravenna’s Teatro Rasi, just a few meters from the MAR.
