Performance open to the public of the project CorpoGiochi a Scuola
realised with teachers, students and pupils of the classes 2B and 2E of the Liceo Artistico Nervi Severini of Ravenna
The task at the MAR is realised by CorpoGiochi ASD thanks to the co-participation of the Municipality of Ravenna and the contribution of the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna. The project participates in the path of citizenship education of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia Romagna Region ‘conCittadini 2024/2025’
At the end of the experience of CorpoGiochi workshops at school, students will realise CONGEGNO EMOTIVO a performative action conceived by Monica Francia, curated with Zoe Francia Lamattina and Sara Zannoni. The performance presented to the public will allow them to experience and evaluate the results of the training course they created in class.
CONGEGNO EMOTIVO is a score of movement that emerges from the encounter between spectators and performers. The action is an ingenious container that engages the audience in a limited space-time relationship with the performer(s). The audience is accompanied in the stage space. A number of geometric shapes are traced on the ground, within which they are invited to position themselves. The lines on the ground mark a temporary distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces. Those who inhabit the outdoor spaces (the performers) have a prosthesis-mirror, with which they open transmissions with those who inhabit the indoor spaces (the audience). The inhabitants of the outdoor spaces choose a body with which to investigate and approach without crossing the boundary between outside and inside. The mirror is a middle body, an instrument on which the gaze breaks to meet another gaze. The mirror has a different use from the common one: it is not an instrument of reflection and reproduction but of distortion, alteration and relation. The mirror is a hook that holds two bodies together and makes them move in a non-specular, non-coincidental manner. It is the point of contact that allows bodies to stay together and move independently. It activates a vibratory conversation of microscopic choreographies that do not match, of blinks, knee bends, turns, steps, trembles. Communication is interrupted when the performers close the mirror and step out into outer space, to open other conversations.
WHAT IS CORPOGIOCHI
CorpoGiochi is a method that, starting from bodies and relationships, aims at personal, aesthetic and political transformation. CorpoGiochi is a wandering, changing and unpredictable set of bodily practices created, transmitted and organised by Monica Francia in a system of “games” punctuated by “rehearsals”. Like all games, it is only thanks to precise and strict rules that CorpoGiochi works, even transforming radically according to the needs of the groups it encounters. CorpoGiochi a Scuola was born in 2003 from the rewriting of practices that took place with the clash with the school system, with its habits and prescriptions, which became necessary in order to meet the very young and then, through them, the teachers and families. For over twenty years, CorpoGiochi a Scuola has been working in the Ravenna area, entering into relations with groups made up of people from 3 to 18 years of age.
