MAR is hosting a meeting with Federico Clavarino, visual artist, researcher, and lecturer, in conversation with Elena Dolcini, curator and scholar. The meeting is part of “Elementary School of Photography 25–26.”
Starting from Clavarino’s artistic career, the conversation will explore the relationship between image and word, investigating the possibilities of contamination between photography and writing, between visual practice and theoretical reflection. An opportunity to explore how images can dialogue with written language and how artistic research feeds on disciplinary crossovers.
Federico Clavarino (1984) studied creative writing at the Scuola Holden in Turin and photography at the BlankPaper Escuela in Madrid. He holds a Master of Research and a PhD from the Royal College of Art in London. The author of eight books, he has exhibited his work in numerous European institutions and regularly gives lectures and workshops internationally, collaborating with museums, schools, and universities.
Scuola elementare di fotografia is a joint project of the Department of Youth Policies of the Municipality of Ravenna and the APS photographic observatory, a permanent photography research laboratory founded in Ravenna in 2009.
