This fall Ravenna is dedicating a major exhibition to one of the most important masters of the 20th century, Marc Chagall on the occasion of the 9th Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic, a unique event that, for three intense months, will invite visitors to immerse themselves in a technique with a centuries-old history that never ceases to fascinate. The exhibition event at the MAR will open the festival dedicated to mosaic promoted, organized and supported by the City of Ravenna, Department of Culture and Mosaic, and coordinated by the MAR.

Starting with one of the masterpieces in the collection of the MAR – Ravenna City Museum of Art, Le Coq bleu, the exhibition Marc Chagall e il mosaico traces the great master’s artistic career through the mosaics he created, projects and collaborations with Ravenna artists and mosaicists. The exhibition, scheduled in the halls of the MAR from Oct. 18, 2025 to Jan. 18, 2026, produced in co-production with the National Chagall Museum in Nice and the Art Museum of the City of Ravenna, will be curated by the general director of the National Museums of the Alpes-Maritimes, Anne Dopffér, the scientific director of the Chagall Museum, Gregory Couderc, the curator of the Art Museum of the City of Ravenna, Giorgia Salerno, and the artistic director of the 9th Ravenna Biennale of Contemporary Mosaic, Daniele Torcellini.

    Tuesday to Saturday: 9 A.M. – 6 P.M.
    Sunday and holidays: 10 A.M. – 7 P.M.
    Closed on Monday

    Ticket service ends half an hour before closing time.
