The MAR opens its doors in the evening for an extraordinary journey into the creative universe of Marc Chagall, featuring sketches, designs and mosaics.
The exhibition Chagall in mosaico. Dal progetto all’opera opens, recounting for the first time the deep connection between one of the most beloved masters of the 20th century and the ancient art of mosaic, which originated in Ravenna thanks to the encounter between Chagall and local mosaic masters in the 1950s.
This is a unique opportunity to admire, in an evocative atmosphere, previously unseen works, preparatory studies and the large mosaic Le Grand Soleil, exceptionally exhibited for this exhibition, together with the original sketch of Le Coq bleu, never before shown to the public.
The evening will be an unmissable opportunity to discover the encounter between colour, light and matter, central elements of Chagall’s poetics, in dialogue with the excellence of Ravenna’s mosaic tradition.
