Workshops dedicated to the exhibition
Marc Chagall in mosaic

Tesserae of Dreams

In the workshop “Tesserae of Dreams,” inspired by the works of Marc Chagall, particularly his mosaic production, children will be guided on a path that combines art, manual skills and imagination. The method is workshop-based and participatory: starting with a brief guided observation of some of the artist’s emblematic works, focusing on the recurring symbols, the expressi  use of color, the dreamlike suggestions of the compositions and the expressive and original use of mosaic technique.                                                                                 esempio laboratorio

The activity will not limit itself to creatively reworking the artist’s technique, but will stimulate each child to reinterpret in a personal key a dream, memory or emotion, translating it into visual language through mosaic, understood as a metaphor of many parts that make up a harmonious whole. Using simple and accessible materials (colored paper tiles, fabric, small recycled elements), each participant will compose an image inspired by Chagall’s poetic universe.

esempio di un laboratorioThe workshop will close with a moment of collective sharing: each child will present their work, telling the story they wanted to represent. Each creation will be valued as the fruit of an authentic experience, with an emphasis on process and individual expressive growth.

The ‘dream tiles’ made by each participant will be able to compose a collective ‘mosaic’ that will allow them to combine images, colors and suggestions until they create one big story made of symbols, dreams and imagination in which, just like in a large mosaic inspired by those seen in the exhibition, many different suggestions will fit and harmoniously compose themselves next to each other.

The ultimate goal of the experience is to educate the gaze, empower the imagination and rediscover the beauty of art as a universal language, through knowledge of Chagall’s symbolic language, an art capable of accommodating and transforming each person’s personal experience, creating relationships and unleashing one’s creative potential.

A new and fascinating journey to discover Chagall’s Le Coq bleu. After a brief introduction inside the exhibition, the activity continues in the workshop, where participants will discover mosaic techniques, materials and tools for creating a mosaic. Immersing themselves in the blue of the glass tiles of the work, they will create a small detail inspired by it, experimenting with the mosaic technique in practice.

The MAR’s Teaching Section is concerned with art and creativity education through the creation of educational paths and workshops.

The palette of feelings

A path to discover some of the most important works of the Museum’s collections guided by the magical light of colors and emotions that arouse in us. In the atelier we will have the opportunity to create our own personal palette through which to express feelings and memories that bind us to our favorite colors. A magical journey between art history, memory and emotions.

Leave your mark!

A path that will accompany us to the discovery of art from the romantic landscapes of the nineteenth century to reach the most surprising inventions of artists of our day. In the atelier we will have the opportunity to creatively rework the signs of the innovative language of contemporary art inspired by the originality of the style of some of the most important works of the Pinacoteca.

Movement, rhythm, development

Mosaic tiles and children come alive, following the course of a large mosaic path that transforms movement into feeling. Starting from this suggestion, each child will build his own mosaic/path of feelings, following the wings of his feeling and testing his ability to imagination and abstraction.

A world of pixels

The photos that capture moments of our lives today are composed of pixels. What would happen if we filled the pixels with colors to represent our emotions and transform them into a kaleidoscopic decoration? Between warm and cold colors, sad and cheerful, calm and energetic participants will create their own ‘mosaic’ of pixels, giving emphasis to their own feelings and trying to interpret themselves and others through artistic expression.
