We are at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries and Ravenna is dominated by Venice, the Serenissima, and it is during this period that Guidarello begins his military career, initially in the service of the Venetians. Spadoni’s text moves between history and legend, between a thousand hypotheses and sometimes contradictory data, but what matters is that Guidarello is more than a symbol, he is an adventure. A story that is unique in some respects: a beacon, an illusion, a fetish, a masterpiece of art. Who would dare to spend an entire night next to his marble image? Yet there are those, such as the museum custodian, who have done so and would do so again, because that statue lives among us.
