The Arts & New Media Room will also host the third Spazio Neutro event, curated by MAR curator Giorgia Salerno, starting in December.
The exhibition, which offers the public a new perspective on understanding contemporary art by exploring its relational dynamics, presents Nell’Eternità del provvisorio / In the Eternity of the Temporary, a site-specific project by Jonathan VanDyke.
The American artist and performer draws inspiration from the Ravenna mosaics of San Vitale, Galla Placidia and Sant’Apollinare to create a modular environment in which the tiles are transformed into painted fabric textures and the decorative element becomes an instrument of contemplation for the visitor.
The pattern emerges from a meticulous assembly of cut, sewn, embroidered and painted fabrics, evoking, through a different medium, the slow and precise construction of the mosaic.
In this space, as in every Spazio Neutro project, the public is not limited to observing but is invited to participate actively, even wearing the work of art and experiencing it directly.
In this way, each visitor becomes an essential element that fits into the composition, helping to reveal the continuous dialogue between intellect, gesture and artistic enjoyment.
