Something is Happening — Real-Time Explorations in Dance, Music and Visual Art
An event by Cantieri Danza as part of Variazioni per Ammutinamenti 2026, in collaboration with Marte and Norma APS.
Something is Happening is a space for encounter between dance, music and visual art.
Artists from different fields come together to share an experience of real-time creation. There is no predetermined score: what happens emerges from mutual listening, presence, and attention to what unfolds throughout the encounter.
Sounds, movements, marks and actions continuously influence one another. From these relationships, unique compositions emerge, changing according to the people present, the space and the shared time.
The event brings together approximately 30 participants, including dancers, musicians, visual artists, choreographers, and professionals working in the fields of body and movement research.
Improvisation is the starting point for exploring and composing together. Different artistic practices enter into dialogue, meet and transform one another.
The Audience
The audience is free to observe the creative process and witness how forms, relationships and atmospheres emerge and transform throughout the event.
There is no need to stay for the entire duration of the experience: everyone can choose how long to remain, following their own rhythm.
The audience is also free to move around the different areas of the Museum, experiencing the action from different points of view.
The presence of the audience is part of the experience. Those who attend become witnesses to an event that takes shape in the very moment it happens.
Between bodies, sounds, images and gazes, something unexpected takes form: a temporary composition, destined to exist only for the duration of the event and to leave a trace in the experience of those who take part.
