Following the exhibition Francesca Pasquali Rifugio plastico. Abitare il confine, curated by Giorgia Salerno and presented as part of the SPAZIO NEUTRO programme at the Ravenna Art Museum, a new installation by the artist is now on display at the Oranjeri: Rifugio plastico. Oltre il confine.
The project stems from a collaboration between the MAR and the Oranjeri, an experimental hub focused on the regeneration of materials and the circular economy, which is launching its programme with an inaugural event dedicated to art.
Building on her exploration of the meaning of contemporary living, Francesca Pasquali’s artistic practice evolves and takes on new forms within the context of Oranjeri’s urban regeneration project, fostering a fresh dialogue between artwork, space and the transformation of the urban environment.
The two large cocoons, originally conceived for the previous exhibition at the MAR, now find a new home within an industrial landscape, establishing an unprecedented dialogue with the rigidity of the architecture and the surrounding area. The plastic fibres, diverted from the production cycle, take on a new expressive dimension as they interact with the transparency of the building – reminiscent of an urban greenhouse – and with the geometries of the industrial skyline. The sinuous forms of the two cocoons, traversed by the white light filtering through the large windows, define a suspended landscape in which the lightness of the plastic material contrasts with the solidity of the architecture.
