Mattia Moreni. La Regressione della Specie e gli Umanoidi

  • 1 March 2026 - 3 May 2026
  • MAR - Museo d'Arte della città di Ravenna

MAR presents the latest event in a wide-ranging project dedicated to Mattia Moreni (1920–1999), one of Italy’s leading artists of the 20th century. The exhibition concludes a series of events involving museums in Bagnacavallo, Forlì, Santa Sofia and Bologna, curated by Claudio Spadoni.
The exhibition, curated by Serena Simoni, displays around thirty major works documenting the artist’s output during the last twenty years of his life, from 1980 to 1999, the year of Moreni’s death.
The exhibition is divided into two sections dedicated to the cycles of Regressione della Specie (Regression of the Species) and Umanoidi (Humanoids), with works that inspire reflection on the decline of man and the arts in the contemporary era: undisciplined geometries, objects, robots and humanoids recount the artist’s restless and prophetic vision of modernity. A third documentary section presents a wide selection of photographs and archival materials.
An unmissable opportunity to rediscover the relevance of one of the most radical artists of the second half of the 20th century in Italy.
