tiles and textures through experience, project and invention
On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the School of Mosaic of the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, the MAR hosts a big exhibition dedicated to the greatest artists of the twentieth century who have confronted themselves with the art of mosaic using original and surprising techniques. The focus will be on the relationship between contemporary art, material, colour and mosaic technique through a tour among the works of some great artists such as Severini, Sironi, Fontana, Paladino, Plessi and Samorì.
For the occasion, the museum offers a guided tour of the exhibition followed by an educational workshop in which it will be possible to experience, inspired by the works admired during the exposition, a personal, original and creative use of the mosaic technique though experience, self-awareness, design and invention.

The MAR’s Teaching Section is concerned with art and creativity education through the creation of educational paths and workshops.
The palette of feelings
A path to discover some of the most important works of the Museum’s collections guided by the magical light of colors and emotions that arouse in us. In the atelier we will have the opportunity to create our own personal palette through which to express feelings and memories that bind us to our favorite colors. A magical journey between art history, memory and emotions.
Leave your mark!
A path that will accompany us to the discovery of art from the romantic landscapes of the nineteenth century to reach the most surprising inventions of artists of our day. In the atelier we will have the opportunity to creatively rework the signs of the innovative language of contemporary art inspired by the originality of the style of some of the most important works of the Pinacoteca.
Movement, rhythm, development
Mosaic tiles and children come alive, following the course of a large mosaic path that transforms movement into feeling. Starting from this suggestion, each child will build his own mosaic/path of feelings, following the wings of his feeling and testing his ability to imagination and abstraction.
A world of pixels
The photos that capture moments of our lives today are composed of pixels. What would happen if we filled the pixels with colors to represent our emotions and transform them into a kaleidoscopic decoration? Between warm and cold colors, sad and cheerful, calm and energetic participants will create their own ‘mosaic’ of pixels, giving emphasis to their own feelings and trying to interpret themselves and others through artistic expression.
