The exhibition Pittura in Romagna. Verso il contemporaneo <\/em><\/strong>pays tribute to Raffaele De Grada<\/strong>, a Milanese critic and intellectual who played a key role in promoting and enhancing the art of Romagna.<\/p>\n

During his time in Ravenna, from 1971 to 1976, De Grada served as director of the Academy of Fine Arts and the Municipal Art Gallery. In those years, he promoted important cultural initiatives, including the exhibition Painting in Romagna from the 19th Century to the Present<\/em>, held in 1974 at the Loggetta Lombardesca. That exhibition made a decisive contribution to the study and understanding of modern art in the region.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s exhibition revisits and updates a section of that project dedicated to artists of the second half of the 20th century. This section, titled The Contemporaries<\/em>, is reinterpreted in light of recent research, offering insight into the main trends in Italian art, between representation and abstraction.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features works by artists such as Alberto Sughi, Mattia Moreni, Umberto Folli, Giulio Ruffini, Giovanni Cappelli and Francesco Verlicchi, along with other key figures of the Romagna art scene. Many of the works on display are little known or rarely shown to the public.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is open from 6 June to 19 July 2026 and is organized by the Municipality of Ravenna \u2013 Department of Culture and Tourism, the MAR \u2013 Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna, and the Ravenna Academy of Fine Arts.
